  1. I am sorry I am commenting here about your most recent blog. I am not a member of Blogher and was having trouble figuring out where to comment. In any event, here is what I wanted to say:

I, too, am Jewish, and you hit the nail on the head about being “out”. My husband wears his Star of David proudly every day, as he grew up in a predominantly Jewish community. I, on the other hand, am careful with whom I share the information as I was a victim of anti-semitism from grade school through high school. It has a lasting affect on me, and therefore, makes me work so much harder to instill pride in my children for who they are. Thank you for such a wonderful blog post.

    1. Sherry, thanks so much for taking the time to comment here! I am so sorry to hear that you experienced anti-semitism growing up…it truly does affect how we share our religion in the future. My husband and I were just having a conversation about this, and discussing how unfair it is that there are people in the world who hate us just because of how we worship. The same can be said for people who are racist, or sexist, and so on. Just by existing, we sometimes “invite” hate. I agree with what you said about how/what we teach our children though…and it’s something that I try to be very thoughtful about each day. Thanks for stopping by and joining the conversation!
